Scary months?

The ‘best’ investment months of the year are still ahead of us. Historically speaking, that is.


 Below are the average monthly returns for the S&P500. 



However, October is also a very ‘dark’ month and holds more “Black Mondays” than any other month. Again, historically speaking. Or as the picture below shows, October has the largest “peak to through” (i.e. volatility) of all months.



And just a reminder of the Black Monday that most people are likely to remember, 19 October 1987 (I still know where I was in my parent’s living room when I saw this on the 8 o’clock news). Also, note the smaller news in the left column “U.S. Ships Shell Iran Installation In Gulf Reprisal”…
